From Maria’s Desk – February 2022

Dear OVV Friends and Family,

Happy gala eve! Tomorrow our community will gather for the 14th Annual Ohio Valley Voices Gala—an evening of music, games, and awards in support of the children in our program. It will be our first in-person gala since 2020, and our team has worked tirelessly to make it a truly magical event befitting such a special occasion. We can’t wait to see you there!

For me, the annual gala is a celebration of everything we’ve already accomplished and everything we will accomplish in the coming years. That said, there’s no denying the fact that the past two years have been difficult ones—not only for OVV but for our country and world as a whole. And yet, if there’s one thing covid has revealed, it’s the resilience of our community. We’re stronger and more committed to our mission than ever, and we owe that remarkable fact to the dedication of our students, families, staff, and supporters.

At tomorrow’s gala, we’ll be honoring two very special individuals who embody the OVV spirit—Jack Wild and Shane DiGiovanna. As a longtime supporter, Jack has selflessly volunteered his time to ensure the success of our organization and in the process become a dear friend to so many in the OVV family. An alumnus of OVV, Shane has harnessed the confidence and communication skills he acquired in our program to overcome adversity and touch others with his message.

These two gentlemen have done so much to carry the OVV mission forward. They remind us that with perseverance, team work, and hope we can accomplish great things. Inspired by their examples, I anticipate a bright future for Ohio Valley Voices and our children—this year and beyond.

But before we get to work building that future, let’s kick back and have a little fun. I’d say we’ve earned it. Thanks for choosing to be a part of OVV, and I’ll see you tomorrow at the gala!

Warmly,

Maria
