Dear Ohio Valley Voices Friends and Family,
Summer is here, and so are the cicadas!
Last Thursday, May 27th, we celebrated the graduation of the Class of 2021. Anyone who tuned into the Facebook livestream knows what a fun, moving occasion it was. Our eight graduates received their diplomas and gave their farewell speeches, eliciting more than a few laughs and tears in the process. And there was even a surprise appearance by the Cat in the Hat! (I’ll let you guess who was wearing that costume.) I couldn’t have imagined a better, more hopeful ending to this school year.
For me, graduation is a reminder that it does indeed take a village. Every single member of the OVV family—our executive and development staff, parents and supporters, teachers and aides, speech therapists and behavior technicians—plays an integral role in supporting our children on their speaking journey and preparing them for graduation.
But above all we must commend the children—eight remarkable boys and girls whose intelligence, curiosity, and perseverance has earned them a permanent place in the OVV legacy and ensured them a bright, promising future. I know they’ll accomplish great things in the wider world, and I look forward to having them visit OVV in the years to come.
2021 Graduates, we are so very proud of you and wish you the best in all your adventures!
With deepest love,
Maria
