Dear Ohio Valley Voices Friends and Family,
Spring is in full bloom and wow does it feel good! I think I speak for everyone when I say the previous winter—indeed, the entire previous year—has been exceptionally difficult, making the coming of spring all the more satisfying. There is a palpable feeling of optimism in the air!
Just a few weeks ago, on March 18th, the Ohio Valley Voices staff received its second dose of the Pfizer vaccine. Thanks to Kroger, the Clermont County Health Board, and especially Molly “COVID Queen” Weber who coordinated the vaccination process, we can end our academic year on a positive note and begin to imagine what post-COVID life will look like at OVV.
Next month we’ll celebrate the graduation of eight children from our program. Slowly but surely, and with all necessary precaution, we’ll resume hosting in-person visits with current and prospective families and supporters. And finally, to provide our children with the best individualized intervention possible, we’ll split our preschool program into two centers next year: the Exploring Center, for new talkers who are just starting at OVV, and the Discovery Center, for more experienced talkers.
While there is still a great deal of uncertainty about what the new normal will be—and when it will arrive—I’m confident that OVV has emerged from the previous year’s hardships stronger than ever. With perseverance and a whole lot of grit, our families, supporters, and staff have guaranteed a bright future for OVV and its children.
I thank you for the unfaltering dedication you have shown. Now go enjoy that sunshine!
Gratefully and joyfully,
Maria
