OVV evaluates each potential student to determine if our program is appropriate for the child. We have a predetermined number of children that can be accepted, which varies based upon demand for an age group and our current staff. If we receive more applicants than we can enroll in our program, we are happy to create a waiting list. Final admission is at the discretion of the administrative team.

Admission to the Parent-Infant Program
The Parent-Infant Program is a diagnostic program designed to facilitate families to become strong advocates for their infant with hearing loss. Infants from birth to 17 months are candidates for the program.
The criteria for admittance to the Parent-Infant Program is a diagnosed sensorineural hearing loss in the infant and a commitment from the family to participate in helping their child acquire oral language as his/her primary mode of communication.

Admission to the Toddler Program
Our Toddler Program is a diagnostic program designed to facilitate listening and talking in young toddlers between the ages of 18 months and 3 years. To be a candidate for the toddler program a child must have a confirmed hearing loss and be able to participate in activities in the center-based program.
An observational assessment and/or standardized test are administered to potential candidates.

Admission to the School Age Program
Our School Age Program is designed to facilitate listening and talking in children between the ages of 3 and 8 years old that have a diagnosed hearing loss. The curriculum adheres to the state’s educational content standards, with an infusion of spoken language and listening instruction. To be admitted to the School Age Program it is CRITICAL that a child must meet the following criteria:
Cognitive skills within the normal range
No additional educationally significant condition that would impede the acquisition of oral language.
The ability to learn the oral language as the primary mode of communication.
The emotional and educational support of the family.

Tuition and Financial Assistance
Our Special Services Coordinator works with families to determine eligibility for financial assistance, to plan for tuition payment, and to help complete all necessary applications. Please contact us and we can answer your questions you may have regarding our programs and enrollment. We are able to offer children and families from any income level the opportunity to learn to listen and talk.
