Supporter Spotlight – The David J. Joseph Company

Founded in Cincinnati in 1885, The David J. Joseph Company (DJJ) is America’s most trusted full-service scrap recycling company. Built the old-fashioned way through hard work, good business sense, and loyal customer relationships, it operates trading offices and scrap yards—as well as U Pull and Pay, a self-serve used auto part store—throughout the United States. In 2008, it became a proud subsidiary of Nucor Steel, America’s safest steel company, and remains an industry leader in scrap metal brokerage, ferrous and nonferrous metal recycling, and transportation services. DJJ is a new supporter of Ohio Valley Voices, and we are honored to welcome them into our family.

For over 135 years, the David J. Joseph Company has been committed to acting as a good neighbor in the communities where it does business. Through local investments, donations, and volunteer efforts it has promoted a wide range of philanthropic endeavors including expanding access to education, promoting child welfare, mentoring school kids, and providing nutritious meals to families whose children are in the hospital. This focus on children, disabilities, and education makes DJJ a perfect partner for OVV.

The David J. Joseph Company supported Ohio Valley Voices for the very first time this year as a silver sponsor of OVV’s Got Talent. The DJJ team was thrilled to contribute to OVV’s special and unique educational program and give local Cincinnati kids a chance to show off their talents.

However, The David J. Joseph Company provided more than just financial support to Ohio Valley Voices’ Got Talent. DJJ Vice President of Human Resources, Karen Luther, recruited her sister, Emily Luther, to appear as one of the competition judges. A powerhouse vocalist known for her show-stopping performances on Ellen and NBC’s The Voice, Emily had plenty of showbiz expertise to draw on for the ceremony. Traveling all the way from Massachusetts to participate, she inspired the evening’s young contestants and helped make OVV’s Got Talent 2021 an unforgettable event.

The David J. Joseph Company encourage others to get involved with Ohio Valley Voices however they can. Whether it’s through donating, volunteering, or contributing expertise, there are so many meaningful experiences and valuable relationships to be had. Lend a hand and you may just change a life—including your own.
