Dear Ohio Valley Voices Family and Friends,
We have almost reached the end of 2020. I can say nothing to describe the hardships our school, our community, and our world have faced this year that has not already been said. So instead, I’d like to share what I’m hopeful for in 2021.
Just today, some first responders in Cincinnati have started receiving the coronavirus vaccine. While normalcy is still a ways away, it is comforting to know that we are certainly moving in the right direction.
Due to necessity and ingenuity, our staff has developed new techniques for connecting with our kids, families, and each other. These will continue to improve the ways we teach children to listen and speak for years to come.
Finally, and most importantly, the children of OVV are still learning and improving their language skills. Many are on track to graduate in the spring and mainstream into their local public or private school. At the end of the day, that is what we’re all about.
Starting December 18, our school will be closed for a month to give the children, families, and staff a well deserved break. I hope this will give everyone time to recharge from the effort and difficulties of working through a pandemic. It will also allow us all to be present with the family and friends that we still surround ourselves with (whether physically or at a distance).
May you all have a restful and enjoyable holiday season, too, and a very hopeful new year!
Best,
Maria
